BREASTFEEDING PRACTICES AMONG INFANTS PRESENTING WITH ACUTE DIARRHEA

Objectives: To determine the frequency of different feeding practices among infants presenting with acute diarrhea.
 Material and Methods: This cross sectional study was carried out from October 2019 to March 2020 in Paediatrics Out-Patient Department Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar. Infants diarrhea were included after meeting inclusion exclusion criteria. Sampling done by consecutive (non-probability) sampling. Sample size 141, under WHO sample calculator.
 
 Results: Out 141 who presented our study, 26(18.4%) exclusively breastfed, 79(56%) partially while 36(25.5%) non breastfed. 80(56.7%) male 61(43.3%) female, exclusive breastfeeding males being 17.5% females 19.7%. The mean age infant 3.25 months, mother found be 26.4 years. rate 7.7% working mothers compared 19.5% housewives.
 Conclusion: most common practice is partial which not as effective preventing reducing morbidity diarrheal diseases.
